A Presidential First
Timeline:2000s
Karen Holbrook had a long list of impressive accomplishments as a biological structure and medicine scientist and educational leader before 2002, when she became the first woman to be named President of The Ohio State University. As the university’s 13th President, Holbrook established innovative student programs resulting in increased research activity and helped underscore the importance of diversity and inclusion on our campuses.
"We have said and we firmly believe that Ohio State is a welcoming environment, a welcoming climate, and we work very hard to make sure that everyone who comes to the campus is equally valued, whether they are faculty, staff, or students."
